Consider Gratitude

Studies show that thankfulness lowers anxiety levels, elevates mood, relieves stress, improves socialization, and stimulates a helpful attitude. Each of us would benefit from focusing on our blessings daily. I spend a few minutes jotting down two or three things I am grateful for, trying to identify something different each day. To do this, I reflect on the last 24 hours, recalling the good things that happened yesterday. To delve deeper into the things I appreciate, I ask myself these questions:

  1. Why did this blessing happen?
  2. What made this event a blessing for me?
  3. How can I show gratitude for this blessing?
  4. How can I become more aware of the blessings around me?
  5. How can I enrich the lives of others?

Appreciating our blessings brings even more blessings.
